The covid vaccination Spring programme commences on 13th April. Our main clinic will be on the 14th April with patients aged 75 and over, and those with a weakened immune system due to a health condition or treatment, eligible to have the vaccination. There will be subsequent clinics if you are unable to attend and full details are available on the surgery website www.tisburysurgery.nhs.uk. We will also be contacting all eligible patients to book an appointment.
The Government has also recently widened the cohort of patients who qualify to have the RSV vaccination, which now applies to all patients who are 80 and over.
The Respiratory Syncytial Virus can cause pneumonia and other illnesses that can result in serious breathing problems which can lead to hospitalisation and, in the most severe cases, can be life threatening. The RSV can make symptoms considerably worse for those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), so we would recommend all patients that fall into the eligible criteria seriously consider having the vaccination.
This vaccination can be administered at the same time as the covid vaccination and will be offered to anyone who is eligible for both at the aforementioned clinics.
