Latest News – December

Firstly a very happy Christmas to everyone.  We hope everyone stays well and enjoys the festive season.

Despite the challenge of rising fuel costs, it is very important to say warm.  Keeping warm over the winter months can help to prevent colds, flu and more serious health problems such as heart attacks, strokes, pneumonia and depression.

The ideal temperature of rooms that you use regularly (e.g. living room and bedroom) is at least 18°C and this is particularly important if you have a health condition.  It’s best to keep your bedroom windows closed at night.  Remember that the library at the Sports Centre is a designated ‘warm space’ and is open from 0700-2100 on weekdays and 0800 to 1300 at weekends.

Checks on smoke alarms are important too and there are grants, benefits and advice available to make your home more energy efficient, improve your heating or help with bills.

Find out more about ways to save energy in your home as well as details about benefits and financial support from ‘gov.uk’ or call the government helpline on 0800 444 202.

Thank you to all those who have come to the surgery for their flu and covid vaccinations – do remember If you’re planning on being away at Christmas and require medication, to let the surgery know in plenty of time to ensure your prescription is available.

With best wishes from all the staff at Tisbury Surgery
