At the time of writing in early April, we have commenced giving the Spring covid vaccinations and if you have not already done so, would encourage eligible patients to make an appointment as the vaccine supply is likely to be limited.
It is three years since the mobile breast screening unit came to Tisbury and it is scheduled to return to the Nadder Centre in late May/early June this year. Please look out for an appointment, which will be sent to eligible patients direct from the Unit and with whom you can discuss any queries or request appointment changes.
As the holiday season approaches, and if you are planning to travel overseas, please make an appointment with a practice nurse to discuss vaccinations a minimum of 6-8 weeks before your scheduled departure date. If you are planning an extended trip, you should think about making your initial appointment at least six months prior to travelling to allow time for the full vaccination courses to be administered before you depart.
We are busy working towards being as ‘green’ as we can and have introduced new products and ways of working to try to limit our impact on the planet.
We are also excited to have commenced working on a women’s health project which, whilst in its early stages of planning, we hope will be of considerable benefit to our patients.
Whether we are all enthused about it or not, it is clear that digital technology is here to stay and will only become more and more prevalent – indeed is Government priority for the healthcare sector. There are inevitable frustrations but also considerable benefits. We would encourage patients to use the Surgery’s online forms – which are being tweaked to ease use – as this ensures the most appropriate person within the surgery can address problems quickly. More on this next month!
We understand that the Hearing Aid support sessions run by the R.N.I.D. are being moved from the Nadder Centre to the Methodist Church Hall in the High Street and will operate on the fourth Thursday of the month from 1000-1130. This is for retubing/hearing aid issues and is open to anyone under the Salisbury audiology unit. Any queries can be made to 0808 808 0123.
Finally, a reminder that due to issues with items being dumped in the car park, especially at weekends, we will routinely be closing the access gate. There will still be pedestrian access for delivery of prescriptions etc.
